Rebuilding Services
Black Pearl works closely with the esteemed piano rebuilding company A.C. Pianocraft of New York City, where owner William Harold served a four-year apprenticeship between 1985 and 1988. Since leaving the company, he has overseen the rebuilding of over 60 pianos owned by private clients, churches and music schools. He also works with A.C. Pianocraft to rebuild all pianos in Black Pearl’s inventory. All rebuilt pianos come with a 5-year warranty on parts and labor.
A completely rebuilt piano has had its soundboard and pinblock replaced, new strings and tuning pins, new action parts and damper felts, a new lacquer finish and everything finely regulated and voiced so that the piano is as brand new again. Many pianos can benefit from partial rebuilding; for example, the soundboard is still healthy, or the finish only needs rubbing and polishing. Black Pearl can visit you to assess your piano’s needs and devise a plan according to your priorities and budget.
